Direct flight services between Chennai, India, and Jaffna, Sri Lanka, resumed on 12 December 2022, after being halted for close to three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Resumption of flights is expected to boost tourist arrivals between the two countries.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba of Nepal inaugurated the Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA), Nepal’s second international airport. The opening will contribute to the country's overall development and long-term prosperity, according to Mr. Deuba. ADB supported the Government of Nepal to build and upgrade the GBIA through the Asia Tourism Infrastructure Development Project.
