March 2026 SASEC Customs Subgroup Holds Field Visit to Clark Freeport Zone-Philippines The SASEC Subgroup on Customs held a field visit to the Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone in the Philippines to study integrated customs operations and economic zone management. Senior customs officials from SASEC countries conducted the visit, hosted by the Philippines Bureau of Customs, Port of Clark, to examine operational practices in an active aviation area and special economic zone. November 2021 Japanese Economic Zone in Bangladesh Set to Raise $1 Billion Investment In the Araihazar upazila of the Narayanganj District, Bangladesh, a Japanese Economic Zone is being developed by the Government of Bangladesh and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). January 2017 India Identifies Potential Location for Special Economic Zones in Bangladesh India is set to undertake a number of projects in the city of Khulna, Bangladesh, including a planned Mongla Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Indian companies. India is also offering to undertake joint projects with Bangladesh to modernize the Mongla sea port and to construct the Khan Jahan Ali Airport. May 2016 Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal Economic Zone May be Formed A Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal (BBIN) economic zone may be declared in an upcoming BBIN seminar and business expo to be held in Siliguri, India, according to Mr. Abdul Matlub Ahmad, President, Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
