ADB, Korea EXIM Bank Hold Seminar on Colombo-Trincomalee Economic Corridor

20 August 2017

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea EXIM Bank) held a seminar on the Colombo-Trincomalee Economic Corridor (CTEC) on 3 August 2017 to present to the Government of Sri Lanka the CTEC final policy consultation paper.

ADB and the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) of the Republic of Korea launched on 26 April 2017 a joint consulting program to support the Government of Sri Lanka in drawing a blueprint for CTEC.

By bringing in the hands-on experience that the Republic of Korea has acquired from its economic corridor development projects, the ADB-KSP joint consulting program will be able to support CTEC initiatives through practical knowledge to strengthen Sri Lanka’s economy. The joint consulting program provides comprehensive policy recommendations tailored to suit Sri Lanka’s needs, especially in foreign direct investment promotion, strengthening competitiveness of small and medium enterprises, single window Customs system, and urbanization.

Officials from the Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Ministry of Development Strategies and International Trade and Sri Lanka Customs and other organizations attended the seminar.
