Bangladesh and Nepal to Increase Bilateral Trade

Mr. Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Minister of State for Shipping of the Government of Bangladesh and Mr. Damodar Bhandari, Nepal Minister of Commerce met in Nepal on 23 March 2024 to discuss ways to increase bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Nepal. Among the topics discussed was the improvement of land transport connectivity between the land ports in Banglabandha in Bangladesh and Kakarbhita in Nepal. A 37-kilometer route could be established between the two ports through India.

Mr. Chowdhury visited the Banglabandha Land Port in Panchagarh district in Bangladesh and Phulbari Land Port in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal in India, along the border of Phuentsholing, Bhutan, as well as to the Pasakha Land Port in Bhutan. Mr. Chowdhury met with Mr. Karmi Jurmi, Phuentsholing governor, to discuss trade between Bangladesh and Bhutan.
