ADB Commits Continued Support for Bangladesh’s Post-pandemic Recovery

14 August 2022

ADB has committed continued support for the improvement of Bangladesh’s key infrastructures as the country carries on its path of post-pandemic recovery and as it deals with the impact from ongoing global crises. ADB’s 2023–2025 lending pipeline for Bangladesh stands at approximately $9.4 billion—around $3 billion each year—for 44 projects. This includes development of roads and railway corridors that will be complemented by necessary reforms to facilitate inter-regional trade, improve access to market and job opportunities, and promote private sector investment opportunities.

ADB will also provide integrated solutions to climate change mitigation and adaptation. Opportunities for energy efficiency and renewable energy will be encouraged to accelerate clean energy transition.

The lending pipeline indicates support for the following sectors: transport, education and health, water and urban, finance, energy, and agriculture. The transport sector will get the highest allocation of $2.9 billion from the three-year lending pipeline. The energy sector will receive $1.07 billion.
