India Foreign Secretary Visits Bhutan

Mr. Vijay Gokhale, Foreign Secretary of the Government of India, visited Bhutan on 4–5 July 2019 to meet its top leaders and deepen bilateral ties between the two countries. He called on His Majesty the King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Prime Minister Lotay Tshering, and Mr. Tandi Dorji, Foreign Minister of the Government of Bhutan.

The two countries discussed bilateral relations and explored strengthening India-Bhutan Ties. Mr. S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of the Government of India visited Bhutan in June.

Mr. Gokhale’s visit continues the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between India and Bhutan according to India’s Ministry of External Affairs. India Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Bhutan in August.
