Senior officials of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multisectoral, Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) member countries met on 5-6 June 2013 to begin updating the ADB-assisted BIMSTEC Transport Infrastructure and Logistics Study, and establish the BIMSTEC Expert Group on Road Development. The importance of integrating South and Southeast Asia was emphasized by the opening statement of Myanmar Deputy Minister of Construction Win Myint.
