Stakeholder Workshop on SASEC Routes Initiative Study along the Kolkata to Dhaka Route

The Asian Development Bank organized a Stakeholder Workshop on 12–13 March 2020 in Kolkata, India to discuss the outcome of the SASEC Trade Facilitation Route Initiative Study along the Kolkata–Dhaka route.

The Kolkata–Dhaka route passes through key border crossing points in the SASEC region: Petrapole–Benapole, Ghojadanga–Bhomra, and Gede–Darsana. The Study aims to improve trade facilitation and logistics efficiency along these critical routes. The Study resulted in a set of recommendations and comprehensive action plan to address the identified issues.

The Workshop delivered presentations and discussions on the infrastructure and trade facilitation scenario, covering the (i) situation along the route; (ii) gap analysis; and (iii) proposed recommendations.

The Workshop also held parallel sessions for Bangladesh and India which discussed country-specific recommendations.

The Meeting was attended by delegations from the Government of India and Bangladesh comprising officials from relevant government agencies.
