Bangladesh: National Workshop on Capacity Building for Implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement

The National Board of Revenue of the Government of Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) of the Government of India, will hold a national workshop on the implementation of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 10-11 February 2019. The Workshop will support Bangladesh in its implementation of the WTO TFA.
The Meeting aims to
- Discuss the current status of activities in the national action plan related to WTO TFA implementation;
- Identify areas in the national action plan that requires assistance from ADB;
- Discuss trade facilitation-related topics, including advance ruling, test procedure, National Single Window, advance passenger information and passenger name record, perishable goods, transit facilitation; and
- Present and discuss the current status of Bangladesh's existing customs practices, and seek recommendation from workshop participants, and from Indian Customs Experts, to help implement international good practices in Bangladesh.
Participants of the meeting will include officials of the Government of Bangladesh and private sector stakeholders.
