Ports to Improve Connectivity between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh

The Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA) met with Chittagong (Bangladesh) Port officials to improve connectivity for imports and exports transshipped through Singapore and Sri Lanka. Mr. Keith Bernard, SLPA chair, met with Rear Admiral M Shahjahan, chair of the Chittagong Port, and Mr. Syed Mohammad Arif , chair of the Bangladesh Association of Ship Agents.

Mr. Bernard; Mr. Upul Jayatissa, SLPA managing director; Mr. Romesh David, chief executive of South Asia Gateway Terminals; and Mr. Jack Huang, chief executive officer of the Colombo International Container Terminals were part of the delegation from Sri Lanka.

SLPA had previously met with Bangladesh High Commissioner H.E. Tareq Md Ariful in Colombo and have held talks with industry stakeholders on improving connectivity between Chittagong and Colombo.
