Integrated Ecotourism and Sustainable Agri-Based Livelihood Development in Meghalaya Project
This technical assistance (TA) aims to enhance the capacities of key stakeholders to leverage opportunities in nature-based ecotourism and strengthen its value chain linkages with nature conservation and climate-smart natural farming development. It will focus on strengthening public sector agencies like the Government of Meghalaya’s Department of Tourism, Meghalaya Age Limited, and Meghalaya Basin Management Agency in project design and implementation. The TA will support key actors in developing sustainable value chains around ecotourism and organic farming, complementing project investments with hands-on support for private sector engagement and market access. Additionally, the TA will promote the sustainability of natural tourism and agriculture by instituting PES for forest management and integrating market-based mechanisms such as carbon credits, biodiversity offsets, and tourism fees. It will document the best practices in ecotourism, forest management, and organic farming to support project implementation.
