Bhutan Prime Minister Meets Incoming ADB Country Director

Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay met Ms. Kanokpan Lao-Araya, incoming Country Director, Asian Development Bank (ADB) Bhutan Resident Mission, and Mr. Hun Kim, Director General, ADB South Asia Department on 20 February 2017 in Thimphu, Bhutan, after presentation of Ms. Lao-Araya's credentials to Bhutan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Damcho Dorji.

According to Mr. Kim, ADB is expanding its operations in Bhutan, upgrading the country resident mission from a representative office to full-country operations.

The Prime Minister welcomed Ms. Lao-Araya, and thanked ADB for their continuous support for Bhutan. Through its partnership with ADB, Bhutan has made progress in connectivity and infrastructure.

Ms. Lao-Araya expressed her commitment toward working as a bridge between Bhutan and ADB.
