Bangladesh Trade Portal Enhances Predictability and Transparency in the Country's Trade

6 March 2016

The Government of Bangladesh has launched the Bangladesh Trade Portal, a one-stop shop for information on conducting trade with Bangladesh. The website offers useful information on exporting goods from, and importing commercial goods into Bangladesh, to promote the country's trade sector. Data available include relevant trade regulations and procedures such as applicable laws, administrative procedures and guidance notes, both in Bangla and English. It also offers information for travelers arriving and leaving the country.

The launch on 6 March 2016 demonstrated the site's features and highlighted its content. Speaking at the event, Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed underscored how the portal marks a milestone for businessmen and traders, broadening their horizons and connecting the country with the rest of the world. The Commerce Minister also invited research institutions, the business community, and the larger public to make use of knowledge made available through the website.

The webportal renders Bangladesh compliant with Article 1 of the World Trade Organization Trade Facilitation Agreement on publication and availability of information, and brings the Government of Bangladesh closer to its goal of enhancing predictability and transparency in the country's trade-related laws and processes.
