Tour Operators from Assam and Bhutan Vow to Strengthen Bilateral Tourism

23 June 2025

Assam and Bhutan have pledged to strengthen their bilateral tourism ties by collaborating on smoother and more accessible cross-border travel.
The 15th annual convention of the Tour Operators Association of Assam, held in Samdrup Jongkhar, Bhutan, emphasized deepening tourism cooperation and unlocking the significant, yet largely untapped, potential for cross-border tourism between Assam (India) and Bhutan.

Tourism representatives from both regions met to develop a joint strategy, with a particular focus on promoting Bhutan’s underexplored eastern circuit. The event drew around 100 association members and Bhutanese stakeholders.

Delegates reaffirmed their commitment to building efficient travel routes and fostering joint initiatives that can position Bhutan’s eastern region as an attractive destination for Indian tourists, ultimately aiming to boost economic growth and cultural exchange through enhanced tourism collaboration.
