Sri Lanka Accelerates National Single Window Implementation

1 January 2025

The Government of Sri Lanka is accelerating the implementation of its National Single Window system, enhancing services for exporters and importers to boost efficiency and competitiveness. At a recent meeting, Sri Lanka’s Deputy Finance Minister Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma highlighted that the Department of Imports and Exports Control began offering online services on 1 January 2025, joining the Sri Lanka Standards Institution and other government agencies in digital service delivery.

Representatives from major chambers of commerce in the country welcomed these efforts, which allow businesses to meet regulatory requirements virtually. The meeting also reviewed progress since the initiative's launch in 2017. They noted limited advancements and emphasized the need to expedite implementation. The Ministry of Finance has been supporting implementation since June 2022. The project continues to conduct consultations to ensure transparency, foster production-driven economic growth, and streamline trade processes for producers and consumers.
