BIMSTEC to Establish BIMSTEC Energy Center in Bengaluru

10 November 2024

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India and the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) signed an agreement to establish a BIMSTEC Energy Centre in Bengaluru, Karnataka, in November 2024. This agreement aims to strengthen energy cooperation and inter-grid connectivity among BIMSTEC member countries.

In September, BIMSTEC held an informal Foreign Ministers' meeting in New York, USA, focusing on improving maritime and digital connectivity, as well as cooperation in areas such as health, food security, trade, investment, economy, and energy.
