Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Eyes Bangladesh Market

22 June 2023

The Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh received a visit from the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB). In a business-to-business network session, both sides discussed the promotion of tourism between both countries.

Sri Lanka aims to increase the number of visitors from Bangladesh to around 25,000 visitors by the end of this year, according to the SLTPB. Bangladesh is an important market for the country, and Sri Lanka can be a destination for meetings, incentive groups, conferences, exhibitions, and cruise tourism.

The SLTPB delegation also remarked that historical links and cultural similarities of both countries can be used to promote tourism.

The meeting also discussed package tours to promote tourism. For the Sri Lanka market, travels to Bangladesh can be offered as a package with India and/or Nepal. For the Bangladesh market, travels to Sri Lanka can be packaged with Maldives.
