ADB VP Highlights Role of SASEC

Mr. Shixin Chen, Vice-President for South Asia and Central and West Asia at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), spoke at the SASEC knowledge event entitled "Green, Efficient, and Resilient Logistics for Sustainable Growth," which was attended by policymakers from South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) countries.

In his speech, Mr. Chen emphasized the role of logistics in ensuring uninterrupted access to basic needs and productive inputs. Regional forums and events, he said in his speech, serve to complement country initiatives and enhance cooperation. He noted how the SASEC Nodal Officials and Working Groups worked together to make climate, pandemic, and disaster resilience part of SASEC's operational priorities.

Mr. Thiam Hee Ng, Director, Regional Cooperation and Operations Coordination Division at ADB, spoke at the event to give an overview of projects for improving logistics efficiency in SASEC countries.
