Border Closure Affects India–Myanmar Trade

Border trade between India and Myanmar slowed down by over 40% for the current fiscal year, due to the temporary closure of border posts because of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, according to a news report. The value of trade went down from $128 million to $76 million noted Thura Swiss, the agency that conducted the research.
Cross-border trade between India and Myanmar takes place in Mizoram, Manipur, Tamu, Reed, and Thantlang. On March 10th, the local government in India decided to close the border gates at the Tamu (Sagaing Region) – Moreh (Manipur in India) crossing.
