SASEC Tourism Knowledge Exchange and Coordination Forum

The South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Program will hold the SASEC Tourism Knowledge Exchange and Coordination Forum, to be chaired by the Government of Sri Lanka on 2-4 September 2026, in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Officials from SASEC partner countries’ tourism ministries and agencies, and consultants from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) are expected to attend.
Objectives
Participants will discuss and seek endorsement of the SASEC Tourism Development Framework 2035 and its accompanying results matrix. The framework is intended to guide SASEC cooperation in tourism and help identify priority areas for coordinated action over the coming decade.
The meeting will also
- Discuss and agree on the scope and terms of reference for prospective tourism-related knowledge works supporting regional cooperation.
- Present and exchange regional best practices in tourism development and cooperation.
- Discuss and agree on the Action Plan for SASEC Initiatives (APSI) 2026–2028, including proposed knowledge works and investment projects.
- Explore prospects, priorities, and next steps for advancing the SASEC tourism agenda.
