SASEC Tourism Knowledge Workshop

The South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Tourism Knowledge Workshop was held on 24-25 November 2025 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The meeting discussed progress in regional cooperation in tourism and the various knowledge work and initiatives in the SASEC countries, comprised of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. The meeting presented case studies of successful integrated transborder development, such as the Greater Mekong Subregion, and the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program (CAREC), and discussed possible strategies that may replicated in SASEC.
The meeting also discussed the SASEC Sustainable Regional Tourism Program Framework, a proposed approach for developing tourism and regional tourism circuits as part of economic corridor development, developing cross-border tourism, and the development of a roadmap for tourism in SASEC partner countries.
The meeting was attended by tourism officials from SASEC countries, as well as staff and consultants from the Asian Development Bank. The meeting was moderated by the SASEC secretariat.
