SASEC Energy Working Group (EWG) Meeting

The South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation Energy Working Group (SASEC EWG) meeting was held on 26-28 November 2025 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The meeting discussed progress in energy cooperation and various knowledge work and initiatives and tackled the draft SASEC Strategy 2035 on Energy Operational Priority. The meeting also reviewed and endorsed the Action Plan for SASEC Initiatives (APSI) 2025-2027, with plans for updating it for 2026-2028.
The meeting gave updates on the proposed SASEC Green Finance Facility (SGFF), outlining its governance framework and alignment with the nationally determined contributions of SASEC countries. Strengthening the supply and value chain for electrical equipment was discussed, building on the regional workshop held in July 2025 in New Delhi, India.
The meeting was attended by officials from finance ministries and departments, energy ministries and renewable energy and power transmission agencies from SASEC countries, as well as staff and consultants from the Asian Development Bank. SASEC countries comprise Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. The meeting was moderated by the SASEC Secretariat.
