The Meeting of the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Senior Officials was held on 4-5 December 2023 in New Delhi, India.

The Government of India hosted the meeting and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) gave knowledge and logistics support. Ms. Manisha Sinha, additional secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, while Mr. Kenichi Yokoyama, director general, South Asia Department, ADB, acted as cochair. Mr. Thiam Hee Ng, regional head, Regional Cooperation and Integration, South Asia Department, ADB, moderated the meeting.

The first day of the two-day meeting discussed progress work by the Transport Working Group, the Trade Facilitation Working Group, and the Energy Working Group. Discussions were also held on the formation of an Economic Corridor Development Working Group. A presentation on the digital public goods payment system was also given.

On the second day of the meeting, a presentation was given on the proposed Action Plan of SASEC Initiatives (APSI) 2023-2025 and a discussion was held on the SASEC Vision 2035 and SASEC Operational Plan 2026-2035.

Senior officials from the SASEC countries’ finance, planning, and economic ministries, heads of delegations for the SASEC technical working groups, and ADB delegation members attended the meeting.
