The South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation Energy Working Group (SASEC EWG) meeting was held on 23-24 November 2023 in New Delhi, India.

The Government of India hosted the meeting and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) gave knowledge and logistics support. Mr. Sai Baba Darbamulla, joint secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India, chaired the meeting while Ms. Sujata Gupta, director, South Asia Energy Team, ADB, acted as cochair.

The meeting discussed energy cooperation and focused on the development of nearest point interconnections, power market development in the region, low-cost financing for energy projects and interconnections, capacity building of power sector stakeholders and development of resilient regional supply and value chains for energy systems. The meeting also discussed proposed projects and knowledge products under the SASEC program.

The meeting was attended by more than 30 government officials from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, and Maldives, with representatives from Myanmar joining the meeting virtually.
