Elenga-Jamuna Bridge Highway under SASEC Project Ensures Speedier Travel on Eid-ul-Azha
25 May 2026
The South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Road Development Project 2 has helped clear a longtime bottleneck, with the Elenga–Jamuna Bridge stretch providing smooth, uncongested traffic flow from Elenga to the bridge's eastern roundabout. By integrating a newly constructed two-lane service road with the existing two-lane highway, the route has now become a four-lane system.
The project also incorporates a 700 meter rigid pavement from the eastern roundabout to Ibrahimabad Railway Station to improve throughput. At the Elenga Bazar flyover, currently under construction, both approaches have been widened to four lanes. Bus bays have also been added.
The bridge highway project is implemented by the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA). Monitoring and field teams, law enforcement, and project engineers will be deployed to ensure smooth and safe travel during Eid ul Azha.
