India’s CBIC and Maldives Customs Service to Collaborate on Customs Capacity Building

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) of the Government of India and Maldives Customs Service (MCS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in capacity building. The MoU aims to help boost the capacity of MCS to undertake and sustain customs reforms and modernization initiatives.
Under this agreement, the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics, a World Customs Organization accredited Training Centre will collaborate with the Customs Academy of MCS to develop and deliver training programs on trade facilitation, including supply chain security, revenue optimization, international instruments and conventions of multilateral organizations.
The MOU was signed by Mr. Ahmed Numan, Commissioner General of Customs of the Government of Maldives, and Mr. Shri Sunjay Sudhir, the Ambassador of India to Maldives of the Government of India. The signing and formal exchange of documents was made in the presence of India Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, during Prime Minister Modi's visit to Maldives in June 2019.
